Please join us for a SPECIAL PTO MEETING being called for May 15th at 7:00 p.m. to hear from Mrs. Teske about a program, The Energy Bus For Schools, that she is asking PTO to fiscally support for the 2017-18 school year. This program is connected to the district work of R Factor and our cultural norms that the students have been learning about this year: Stand Up and Own It, Power of the Team, and Passion for Growth. The Energy Bus for Schools is a school based culture program based on Jon Gordon’s book: The Energy Bus
In order to become a certified Energy Bus School, which entails fully adopting the elements founded in Jon Gordon’s book, staff and students at Darby Creek will learn about and work to implement the 7 principles fostering a positive outlook, developing a positive and flexible mindset, and to be intentional about how to be at our very best. This work will be facilitated by a member of Jon Gordon’s team directly with the Darby Creek staff several times throughout the year through professional development opportunities. The staff, in turn, will embed these principles and the elements of this philosophy to our culture work up to this point with our students in their classroom communities and throughout the school community as a whole. The cost of this program is $7,000. Because this is such a significant dollar amount for a program and because it is of the utmost importance to maintain integrity in the manner in which fiscal funds are allocated, we are asking to come together as a PTO community to learn, ask questions, and complete a vote on whether or not PTO will support this initiative. We hope to see you on May 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center.
