Reduce Waste with TerraCycle and Earn $$ for Darby Creek!
TerraCycle is on a mission to eliminate the idea of waste. They do this by creating waste collection programs for previously non-recyclable, or difficult-to-recycle, waste. The collected waste is then converted into new products, ranging from recycled park benches to upcycled backpacks. Since 2007, schools working with TerraCycle have collected over 2.5 billion pieces of waste, including 250 million drink pouches. That is enough drink pouches to cover the Grand Canyon 40 times!
At Darby Creek, we will be collecting food pouches (Go-Go Squeez or other fruit/yogurt mixes, including baby food) and drink pouches (Capri-Sun, Honest Kids, etc.). We will earn point for each item we send in (2 cents per waste unit), and shipping is free, so please send in your pouches from home too!

Go Green with Lunchtime Recycling!
Beginning October 2015, look for new recycling bins in the cafeteria for your food pouches (like applesauce) and drink pouches (like Capri Sun). By sending these pouches to TerraCycle, we can earn money for our school, help reduce waste, and take care of the Earth! TerraCycle has already collected over 250 million drink pouches, which is enough to cover the Grand Canyon 40 times! You can also bring in your empty food and drink pouches from home too! |
